Job summary

First Bus is seeking a PSV/HGV Mechanic at our Doncaster Depot. You will diagnose faults, perform repairs, and conduct proactive maintenance to keep buses and related vehicles safe and reliable. A strong attention to detail and a passion for mechanics are essential.

Candidates should have Level 3 NVQ/SVQ or City & Guilds in vehicle maintenance, plus experience on HGV/PSV and a valid UK driving licence. Right to work in the UK and compliance with health and safety standards are required.

Qualifications

• Level 3 NVQ/SVQ or City & Guilds in vehicle maintenance & repair.
• Experience on HGV or PSV vehicles.
• Valid UK driving licence and right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults and perform mechanical repairs to vehicles.
• Carry out scheduled servicing and routine inspections.
• Conduct preventative maintenance and respond to on-road breakdowns and recoveries.
• Road test vehicles where required and complete documentation to regulations.
• Maintain accurate service records and health & safety compliance.

Position: PSV/HGV Mechanic Location: Doncaster Depot, Leger Way DN2 6AZ

Key Details:

• £21.61 per hour
• 5 days over 7
• Minimum 40 hours per week
• Rotation of early and late shifts

In this hands-on role, you'll keep vehicles running safely and reliably by diagnosing faults, completing mechanical repairs and replacing parts when needed. You'll carry out scheduled servicing, routine inspections and preventative maintenance, as well as responding to on-road breakdowns and recoveries. You'll also road test vehicles where required and make sure all documentation is completed accurately and in line with regulations and health and safety standards.

What We're Looking For

Do you have a Level 3 NVQ/SVQ or City & Guilds equivalent in vehicle maintenance & repair?

Do you have experience working on HGV or PSV?

Do you have a valid UK driving licence?

Do you also have a strong attention to detail and a passion for mechanics?
