Job summary

First Bus Doncaster Depot is seeking a NVQ Level 3 qualified PSV/HGV Mechanic to join a busy workshop. You will diagnose faults, carry out mechanical repairs and servicing, and document work to meet safety standards.

This hands-on role requires a valid UK driving licence and a passion for mechanics, with early/late shift rotation and a 40-hour week. Doncaster location and union of services are included.

Qualifications

• Level 3 NVQ/SVQ or City & Guilds equivalent in vehicle maintenance & repair.
• Experience working on HGV or PSV vehicles is preferred.
• Valid UK driving licence is required.
• Strong attention to detail and a passion for mechanics.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults and carry out mechanical repairs and part replacements.
• Perform scheduled servicing, routine inspections and preventative maintenance.
• Respond to on-road breakdowns and recoveries as needed.
• Road test vehicles where required and ensure accurate documentation for regulations and health & safety.

Position: PSV/HGV Mechanic

Location: Doncaster Depot, Leger Way DN2 6AZ

We are now looking for an NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) qualified PSV/HGV Mechanic to join the busy team at First Bus Doncaster Depot – PSV or HGV mechanical experience is great however we love to hear from ex-Forces personnel with an engineeringapprenticeship qualification, and experienced engineers from other automotive sectors looking for a change.

Key Details:

• £21.61 per hour
• 5 days over 7
• Minimum 40 hours per week
• Rotation of early and late shifts

In this hands-on role, you'll keep vehicles running safely and reliably by diagnosing faults, completing mechanical repairs and replacing parts when needed. You'll carry out scheduled servicing, routine inspections and preventative maintenance, as well as responding to on-road breakdowns and recoveries. You'll also road test vehicles where required and make sure all documentation is completed accurately and in line with regulations and health and safety standards.

What We’re Looking For

• Do you have a Level 3 NVQ/SVQ or City & Guilds equivalent in vehicle maintenance & repair?
• Do you have experience working on HGV or PSV?
• Do you have a valid UK driving licence?
• Do you also have a strong attention to detail and a passion for mechanics?
