Job summary

First Bus Lowestoft Depot is seeking a NVQ/SVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) qualified PSV/HGV Mechanic to join our busy Lowestoft team. You will diagnose faults, perform mechanical repairs and servicing to keep buses operating safely and reliably, including road tests where required.

This hands-on role involves early/late shift rotations, a 39+ hour week and a £2,000 joining bonus. We offer health plans, pension, discounted travel and other benefits to staff after joining.

Qualifications

• Do you have a Level 3 NVQ/SVQ or City & Guilds equivalent in vehicle maintenance & repair?
• Do you have experience working on HGV or PSV?
• Do you have a valid UK driving licence?

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults and carry out mechanical repairs and part replacements to keep vehicles safe and reliable.
• Carry out scheduled servicing, routine inspections and preventative maintenance.
• Respond to on-road breakdowns and recoveries and road test vehicles when required.

PSV/HGV Mechanic

Location:

Lowestoft Depot, Gas works Road, Lowestoft, NR32 1UZ

We are now looking for an NVQ/SVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) qualified PSV/HGV Mechanicto join the busy team at our First Bus Lowestoft Depot – PSV or HGV mechanical experience is great however we love to hear from ex-Forces personnel with an engineeringapprenticeship qualification, and experienced engineers from other automotive sectors looking for a change.

Key Details:

• £21.55 per hour
• Weekend premium rate of £22.19 per hour
• Minimum 39 hours per week
• Approx. £43,703 per annum
• 5 days over 7 (including weekends)
• Rotation of early and late shifts
• £2,000 JOINING BONUS!

In this hands-on role, you'll keep vehicles running safely and reliably by diagnosing faults, completing mechanical repairs and replacing parts when needed. You'll carry out scheduled servicing, routine inspections and preventative maintenance, as well as responding to on-road breakdowns and recoveries. You'll also road test vehicles where required and make sure all documentation is completed accurately and in line with regulations and health and safety standards.

What We’re Looking For

• Do you have a Level 3 NVQ/SVQ or City & Guilds equivalent in vehicle maintenance & repair?
• Do you have experience working on HGV or PSV?
• Do you have a valid UK driving licence?
• Do you also have a strong attention to detail and a passion for mechanics?
