Job summary

Choice Care is seeking a Maintenance Operative to perform a range of general property maintenance tasks across our residential homes. You’ll be responsible for reactive repairs, basic decorating, carpentry and ensuring properties are safe, comfortable and well‑maintained for residents.

The role is field‑based with a 40‑hour week, on‑call standby payments, a company van, fuel card and tools provided. You’ll join a supportive team delivering high care standards within a busy social care setting.

Qualifications

• Practical experience in general property maintenance or similar hands‑on roles.
• Ability to complete minor repairs safely and to a good standard.
• Good judgement on when specialist support is required.
• Respectful approach when working in occupied homes with vulnerable residents.
• Good communication, organisation and basic record-keeping skills.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to on‑call rota.

Responsibilities

• Carry out reactive repairs and planned maintenance across residential properties.
• Coordinate with specialists for regulated or complex tasks.
• Work Monday to Friday, with an eight‑hour shift and periodic out‑of-hours cover.
• Use mobile tools to track jobs and document work completed.
