Job summary

Environment Agency is seeking a proactive Project Manager to lead and deliver flood risk management projects across the Midlands hub. You will manage projects from strategic planning through to handover, coordinating engineers, contractors and partners while maintaining governance and risk controls.

You will mentor team members, build effective relationships with stakeholders, and contribute to a dynamic delivery environment with flexible base location within the Midlands, including occasional

Qualifications

  • A degree (or equivalent) in an engineering, environmental or geography related discipline.
  • Ideally working towards chartered membership of a professional body such as ICE, CIWEM or APMP.
  • Experienced in project and contract management.
  • Areas of expertise include feasibility assessment, asset management, business case development, cost monitoring/forecasting, scope preparation, CDM, engineering design and construction.
  • Experience in a project and contract management environment, ideally within engineering, construction and/or flood & coastal risk management.
  • A track record delivering results on technically challenging projects through coordination of a technical team.
  • The ability to mentor and support teams in delivery of their work.
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills for stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver exciting, innovative projects including flood risk management studies and schemes.
  • Oversee project delivery from initial strategic planning through feasibility, detailed design, and into implementation, construction and handover.
  • Support team members and foster high-performing teams including suppliers, client representatives, technical specialists, and other partners.
  • Apply strong commercial acumen in project, contract and risk management within governance procedures and legislation.
  • Develop a resilient network of stakeholder relationships to negotiate consents, approvals and external funding.
