Project Director

Location: Manchester

Salary: £100k - £110k per annum plus car allowance, holidays & pension

Our client is seeking an experienced Project Director to lead the successful delivery of decarbonisation and minor works projects across various contracts in the North West. You will be responsible for overseeing a pipeline of complex public sector projects aligned to sustainability and net zero goals.

You will lead a Regional Centre of Excellence, managing both major decarbonisation programmes. Providing strategic, commercial, technical, and operational oversight, while ensuring all projects are delivered to the highest safety, quality, and compliance standards.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Manage end-to-end delivery of major and minor capital projects, including feasibility, funding bids, design, delivery, and commercial performance.
  2. Build and lead a high-performing multidisciplinary team of operational, commercial, and technical staff and contractors.
  3. Drive a strong behavioural safety culture and ensure full compliance with CDM Regulations 2015, Building Safety Act 2022, and contract obligations.
  4. Engage with key stakeholders and Local Authority partners, maintaining positive, collaborative relationships.
  5. Lead on programme planning, resource forecasting, risk mitigation, and financial reporting.
  6. Own and oversee complex budgets, project governance, KPIs, and delivery milestones.
  7. Mentor, coach, and develop internal teams to meet delivery excellence standards.
Candidate requirements:
  • Proven experience in leading complex capital programmes within public sector or Local Authority environments.
  • Strong understanding of government funding streams (e.g., PSDS), decarbonisation delivery, and net zero objectives.
  • Exceptional leadership skills across technical, operational, and commercial domains.
  • Track record of delivering results in a fast-paced, compliance-led environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
Qualification:
  • Ideally degree qualified in construction or building services.
  • Demonstrable track record of leading teams and delivering projects.
