Responsibilities

• Be the Projects Control & Commercial Manager with extensive experience in the detailed planning of large, complex transportation projects.
• Provide comprehensive Project Controls & Commercial support to project teams and the client; report to the Project Controls & Commercial Director.
• Ensure best practice contract management and cost control on projects you and the wider team work on.
• Deliver project requirements around earned value, change management and forecasting; agree progress methodology; submit project actuals with the contractor; produce EV reports for monthly business reviews.
• Work with Senior colleagues to sustain operating policies, procedures and processes; ensure proper application by the commercial team for risk, planning and cost management activities.
• Manage the change management process on the project; chair or facilitate project-level change forums; escalate change papers requiring approvals; ensure judgments are enacted within change control tools.
• Support the Project Director/Project Manager with specialist advice to resolve delays, issues and challenges.
• Integrate schedule, cost, quality and risk to drive expedient project delivery.
• Lead cost/project reporting, ensure quality and robustness; compile and present monthly project review packs to the Project Lead and senior stakeholders.
• Interpret monthly data to support prompt decision making.
• Coordinate multiple contributors to conduct change impact assessments and support Programme Management in driving best-for-programme decisions.
• Set objectives for individuals, review performance, conduct appraisals and provide ongoing feedback.
• Undertake self-assessment of procedural compliance and share lessons learned within the Project Controls & Commercial community.
• Support the Project Controls & Commercial Director in meetings to deliver market and strategy insights to client senior commercial teams.

Qualifications and What you can bring

• Experience in a Commercial role within large, complex infrastructure or construction projects, preferably with a formal professional Project Management qualification.
• Proficient in EVM processes and their application on construction projects; able to lead on cost, risk, change management activities, and reporting.
• Knowledge of transport, major infrastructure or construction projects (under NEC Contracts), including client and consultation processes.
• Ability to manage stakeholders and information flow in a matrix environment; capable of working across business areas and with senior management; provide specialist advice as required.
• Experience leading and motivating a team within a large-scale project environment.
• Attention to detail with the ability to solve complex problems and mitigate risks.
• Knowledge of public sector policies, processes and procedures and associated political impacts.
