Location: Glasgow, Strathclyde International Study Centre

Salary: £12,531.50 per annum

The Progression & Engagement Officer’s role is to support students’ progression needs both face‑to‑face and online.

The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of tutorial sessions, 1‑1 support and guidance, establishing a programme of activities to help students develop skills and confidence outside the classroom in preparation for their transition to HE. This will require excellent people skills and a good level of administrative ability.

ABOUT THE ROLE
  • Act as a personal tutor to deliver Academic Success tutorials and provide 1:1 personal development, academic and progression counselling to students.
  • Collaborate within the network to design and create learning materials around study skills, welfare topics and employability for Academic Success tutorials.
  • Update and maintain the virtual learning environment and embed alternative digital learning technologies into delivery.
  • Put interventions in place in relation to attendance in a timely manner and in accordance with the Attendance Policy and accurately record them.
  • Track student performance, liaise with the academic team to identify suitable intervention strategies and ensure performance and progression records are maintained.
  • Monitor, track and provide reports on student destination offers and refer students to the Extended Progression Team for assistance in finding alternative choices where they do not meet their progression requirements.
  • Track VLE analytics and gather data on work completion to identify gaps and actions for students.
  • Support students in actively taking care of their mental and physical health; liaise with the Student Wellbeing Team where there are concerns of students welfare.
  • Ensure student records are kept up to date and are accurate.
  • Support the organisation and delivery of wellbeing, enrichment, transition events.
  • Ensure the smooth running of the reception and other student‑facing environments, dealing with general student queries face‑to‑face, on the VLE, by email and phone, gathering information from other functional areas, targeting problem areas that lead to poor service, and regularly reviewing the service with the wider team.
  • Work as part of a team to organise and manage registration, arrivals, induction, enrichment activities and events, and provide support and guidance to team members carrying out the activities.
  • Work as part of a team to ensure professional and timely information and reporting is released to external stakeholders including parents, sponsors, guardians, agents, Study Group colleagues in the UK and overseas, and partner universities.
  • Effective relationship management with stakeholders including key University departments such as Student Support and Admissions.
  • Engage with Study Group marketing and agent visits, including presentations and contribution to marketing materials.
  • Provide resources and support for other teams, as required.
  • Provide general administration support for the centre as required and cover administration duties for other members of staff when absent and during peak periods.
  • Carry out any duties reasonably required by the Senior Leadership Team.

  • Experience working in a regulated environment.
  • Experience working in customer service.
