Job summary

Forterra plc is seeking a Production Operative for the Desford site in Leicestershire. You will contribute to the manufacturing process, ensuring products meet quality specifications while maintaining safety and minimizing downtime.

Training will be provided, with a focus on safety rules, PPE usage, and proper procedures. The role involves shift-based duties, adherence to site rules, and participation in ongoing training to support production targets and quality standards at Forterra’s Desford

Qualifications

• No formal education required; 3 months supervised training and competency check.
• COSHH training and isolation LOTOTO procedures are provided.
• PPE awareness and training, and safety-related courses (fire, noise, working safely) are included.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily safety checks at start of shift and report issues to Shift Manager.
• Monitor each stage of the process to ensure correct operation.
• Rectify stoppages or malfunctions and seek assistance when needed.
• Ensure PPE is worn at all times and safety systems are operational.
• Carry out operator quality checks and sign off sheets.
• Keep the work area clean and tidy; maintain housekeeping standards.
• Carry out shift handover with the opposite shift.
• Follow risk assessments and standard operating procedures for tasks.
• Attend relevant training as requested by management.
• Adhere to Forterra’s Golden Rules and site code of conduct.
