Job summary

Forterra Building Products Ltd is seeking a proactive Yard Manager for the Desford yard to lead safety, inventory, and gate-to-gate operations. You will manage day-to-day yard activities, coach a stockyard team, and work to optimise loading cycles while ensuring customer-focused service.

Responsibilities

• Champion health, safety and environment across yard operations.
• Lead daily yard operations and supervise stockyard teams for high performance.
• Drive yard efficiency, inventory accuracy and customer service levels.
• Oversee loading/unloading, consignor responsibilities and security of yard and stock.
• Ensure regulatory compliance with UK requirements for loading, dispatch docs and weights.
• Manage entry/exit controls and site security for all employees, contractors and visitors.
• Maintain stock segregation and accuracy on yard and stock table (JDE).
• Monitor material availability and prevent production downtime by ensuring raw materials and mobile plant are ready.
• Control yard-related costs and pursue process improvements.
• Ensure training, recruitment and adherence to disciplinary processes.
