Production / Planning Manager

Location : Newcastle

Salary : £45,000

Hours : 40 per week, Monday to Friday

Contract : Permanent

A leading manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Production / Planning Manager to join its team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of production operations within a fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and managing the production schedule for electrical panel assembly, coordinating with transport teams to achieve on-time, in-full delivery targets. They will also lead a team of approximately 30 operatives and panel wirers, driving performance and adherence to schedules while implementing continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee reliable and efficient manufacturing processes aligned with agreed KPIs.
• Deliver against stringent OTIF (On Time In Full) targets.
• Execute production plans, ensuring quality and delivery expectations are met.
• Conduct daily production meetings, logging and closing actions effectively.
• Perform root cause analysis and resolve operational issues.
• Ensure strict compliance with health and safety procedures.
• Maintain workplace housekeeping standards.
• Lead regular one‑on‑one meetings, support team development, and manage performance issues.
• Collaborate with HR on disciplinary matters when required.
• Ensure team members are trained and equipped to perform their roles.

Experience & Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience in production / planning management.
• Strong background in managing production, warehousing, and assembly—preferably within the electrical industry.
• Knowledge of electrical panel wiring.
• Proven ability to analyse data and drive performance improvements.
• Track record in mentoring and developing talent.
• Expertise in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing.
• Full driving licence required.
