Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Principal Town Planner to lead infrastructure planning across the UK, with a focus on DCO projects. You’ll work on renewables, energy, transport, water, and housing developments, delivering high-profile projects through multiple consenting regimes.

The role supports hybrid working and can be based in Birmingham, London, or other UK offices. You’ll join a national team delivering complex infrastructure with a client-focused, collaborative approach.

Qualifications

• Degree in Town Planning or related discipline.
• Membership of RTPI or equivalent professional body.
• Significant experience leading planning applications for large infrastructure.
• Expert witness experience would be advantageous.
• Strong client and stakeholder relations.

Responsibilities

• Lead and assist in delivery of major development applications.
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams and manage planning submissions.
• Provide planning advice on consent requirements and strategies.
• Support business development and client relationship building.
• Collaborate with Environmental Impact Assessment team and stakeholders.
