RTX is recruiting a Senior Software Engineer to join our onsite teams in Manchester and Gloucester. You will contribute to cross-functional delivery, building secure, mission-critical software across Defence and related programmes.

We value expertise in JavaScript (React/NextJS), TypeScript, Python, Java and cloud-native tech. A willingness to obtain SC and eDV clearance is required, with opportunities for growth and training.

Qualifications

• Core software engineering across multiple languages with modern frameworks.
• Experience designing REST APIs and using OpenAPI/Swagger.
• Cloud services experience (AWS or Azure) and container orchestration.
• Proven ability to work in Agile delivery teams and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with relational databases and search technologies.

Raytheon UK have a full time, perm opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer to join our specialist teams working onsite at our Manchester and Gloucester sites.

You'll be part of our experienced software dev function, working in a cross-functional team, delivering and deploying critical software across a variety of programmes.

In this area of the business we prove DevSecOps at scale, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, cyber and geospatial intelligence capabilities to support the defence, intelligence and cyber sectors. Collaborating with customers and suppliers to deliver secure, mission critical systems using the latest technologies and innovations.

We have opportunities for Software Engineers at every level within a team across our Manchester, Gloucester or London teams, so we will discuss the great opportunities for development or challenges we offer based off your professional profile.

Due to the interesting work we do and the sector this team is working in, we require all candidates to be eligible and willing to obtain SC and eDV clearance.

Responsibilities:

• Design and build software using industry best practice
• Collaborate with stakeholders and other engineers
• Contribute to the completion of milestones associated with your project
• Contribute to continuous improvement within your team
• Collaborate with your peers on technical direction within your team

Desired Skills and Experience:

• Core Software Engineering across a variety of languages, e.g. JavaScript frameworks (React, NextJS), TypeScript, Python, Java
• REST API development
• OpenAPI / Swagger
• Cloud services (AWS or Azure)
• Containerisation & Orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift)
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible)
• Relational Databases (e.g. PostgreSQL)
• Elasticsearch / Opensearch
• Unit testing and automation
• Testing frameworks (e.g. Mocha, Jest, Cypress)
• Experience working in an Agile delivery team
• Use of code repositories (e.g. GitLab); familiarity with branching strategies, pull requests and merge processes
