Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Principal/Associate Engineer in Infrastructure Lighting to lead the Lighting Team, driving design and analysis for major highways, airports, and aviation lighting projects across the UK and beyond. The role emphasizes leadership, client engagement, and technical excellence.

You will guide a growing team, collaborate across offices, and contribute to business development while working within a hybrid UK working model.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable passion for infrastructure lighting and its application across projects.
• Strong leadership skills with experience growing and developing a technical team.
• Excellent written communication and attention to detail; able to produce precise technical deliverables.
• Good verbal communication and client engagement capabilities with a track record of winning work.
• Proficient with digital modelling approaches and IT tools used in design and delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Infrastructure Lighting Team on UK and international projects.
• Undertake options, preliminary designs, and cost‑effective lighting solutions.
• Engage with clients and other offices to generate new work and diversify workload.
• Provide mentoring and line management to the team and coordinate delivery.
• Support senior management in securing new work and expanding the team’s capabilities.
• Ensure technical excellence and alignment with design standards and sustainability goals.
