Job summary

Jacobs is expanding its UK highways capability and seeks experienced Principal Engineers to lead safe, practical highways design solutions for clients such as National Highways, Transport Scotland, and the Welsh Government.

You will guide design teams, mentor engineers, and help projects meet quality, programme and budget, while contributing to broader capability development across the UK and internationally.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering engineering design solutions in transportation.
• Delivery of local and/or major highways projects; land-side alignment in adjacent markets.
• Strong understanding of design standards such as DMRB or international equivalents.
• Knowledge of UK H&S legislation and safety emphasis.
• Ability to work independently within a global multi-disciplinary team.
• Experience in financial management and control of projects.
• Attained a professional qualification (engineering degree, CEng/IEng or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of safe, practical highways design solutions for clients including National Highways andTransport Scotland.
• Mentor engineers and strengthen engineering capability within the team.
• Guide design teams and resolve technical challenges to meet quality, programme and budget.
• Collaborate with specialists across the UK and internationally to improve processes and automation.
• Shape future growth of Jacobs' highways & civils capability.
