Job summary

Mott MacDonald is expanding its Major Projects capability within the Water Consultancy Division and seeks a Principal Civil Engineer to lead and deliver nationally significant water infrastructure projects in the UK. You will guide front‑end engineering, ensure technical excellence, mentor teams, and drive consentable schemes through NSIP/DCO processes.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer with a relevant degree is essential.
• Proven ability to lead multi‑disciplinary teams and coordinate complex interfaces.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills.
• Experience on major, complex infrastructure projects, ideally within the UK water sector.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee front‑end engineering delivery across multiple projects.
• Provide technical leadership and assurance, setting standards for quality and best practice.
• Line manage, mentor and develop engineers and junior staff.
• Drive development of consentable NSIP/DCO schemes and ensure alignment with health, safety, environment and quality standards.
