Job summary

AECOM in the UK seeks a Principal Civil Engineer to drive delivery across energy projects in Renewables & Transmission and Distribution. You will lead multi-disciplinary teams, direct feasibility through construction supervision, and mentor junior engineers.

The role spans offices including Birmingham, London and Edinburgh with a flexible hybrid working model. AECOM supports career development and industry-leading practices.

Qualifications

• Degree in civil engineering with relevant chartered status or in progress.
• Experience delivering complex multi-disciplinary energy transition projects in the UK.
• Familiarity with UK Transmission & Distribution (11kV–400kV) is desirable.
• Strong technical competency in civil/structural design and report writing.

Responsibilities

• Act as lead verifier on reports including feasibility studies and design reports.
• Liaise with clients, manage project work on a day‑to‑day basis and ensure delivery within timescales and budgets.
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary design teams.
• Lead and manage the design of civil infrastructure including roads and drainage.
• Prepare and review calculations, designs and specs meeting UK standards.
• Conduct site inspections and respond to technical queries.
• Produce high‑quality reports and documentation.
• Mentor and guide junior staff.
