Our client is a specialist engineering design company delivering complex clean and wastewater infrastructure projects across the UK. As part of their continued growth, they are seeking a Principal Civil Design Engineer to play a key leadership role within their Manchester-based team.

This position offers the opportunity to combine hands‑on technical excellence with strategic input, influencing project delivery, technical standards, and team development.

Role

• Lead the civil design delivery of major clean and wastewater infrastructure projects
• Act as technical authority across multiple schemes, ensuring quality and consistency
• Provide leadership, mentoring, and technical development for engineers across the team
• Work closely with clients, project managers, and multidisciplinary stakeholders
• Contribute to technical governance, best practice, and continuous improvement

About You

• A degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
• Extensive experience in clean and/or wastewater infrastructure design
• Proven capability leading design teams and complex work packages
• Strong knowledge of UK water industry standards and regulations
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
• Chartered Engineer status (ICE or equivalent) is strongly preferred
