Job summary

Protocol Education is seeking a dedicated SEND Support Assistant to work with Key Stage 1 pupils at a welcoming Heaton primary school in Newcastle upon Tyne. If you're patient and compassionate, you'll help children build confidence and independence in a nurturing classroom.

You'll deliver tailored interventions, work with the class teacher and SENDCO, support social and communication skills, and help create a calm, engaging learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children with SEND in a school or care setting is preferred.
  • Calm, adaptable and compassionate approach is essential.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.
  • Understanding safeguarding responsibilities and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with a range of additional learning needs within KS1.
  • Deliver tailored interventions and classroom support.
  • Work alongside the class teacher and SENDCO to implement learning plans.
  • Help children develop social, emotional and communication skills.
  • Encourage independence while providing reassurance when needed.

We're working with a welcoming primary school in Heaton that's searching for a dedicated SEND Support Assistant to work with Key Stage 1 pupils. You'll play a vital part in helping children build confidence, develop independence and enjoy learning in a nurturing classroom environment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
