SEND Inclusion Support in the Wigan area is recruiting an experienced SENCO to lead and develop SEND and EAL provision within a primary education setting, ensuring high standards of inclusion and achievement for all pupils.

You will support Teaching Assistants, collaborate with senior leaders, staff, families and external agencies, monitor pupil progress using data, coordinate SEND assessments and EHCP processes, and champion safeguarding and high-quality, inclusive teaching across the school.

Job description

SEND Inclusion Support is recruiting for an experienced SENCO to take on a key leadership role within a primary education setting in the Wigan area.

The successful candidate will lead and develop SEND and EAL provision, support Teaching Assistants and work closely with senior leaders, teaching staff, families, the Local Authority and external agencies.

The Role

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading SEND and EAL provision
  • Supporting and developing Teaching Assistants
  • Monitoring pupil progress and outcomes
  • Supporting staff with inclusive teaching and learning
  • Overseeing SEND assessment, intervention and provision
  • Supporting statutory assessment and EHCP processes
  • Liaising with families, the Local Authority and external agencies
  • Contributing to the monitoring and development of teaching and learning
Essential Qualifications
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Relevant degree
  • National SENCO qualification
  • Evidence of further effective professional development
Essential Experience
  • At least four years' teaching experience within a primary setting
  • Experience as an outstanding teacher
  • A proven track record of raising educational standards
  • Experience using data to set targets and raise standards
  • Experience managing or leading a team
  • Experience of monitoring and evaluation
  • Experience applying for statutory assessment
  • Experience assessing pupils with SEND and EAL
  • Experience with statutory testing and access arrangements
  • Experience working with Children's Services
  • Experience working with Local Authority services
  • Experience engaging difficult-to-reach families

Candidates should also have an excellent understanding of safeguarding and child protection and an in-depth knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice.
