Job summary

Remedy Recruitment Group is seeking a patient and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join a well-resourced school in Chelmsford. The role covers both primary and secondary pupils with SEN (ASD/ADHD/complex needs) and offers long-term, full-time placement with ongoing consultant support.

You will support communication, regulate emotions and help pupils engage with learning tasks, following EHCP targets. Personal care assistance may be required, and DBS update is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEN, ASD, ADHD or complex needs.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach.
• Confident across primary and secondary age groups.
• Willing to support personal care where needed.
• Enhanced DBS (Update Service) or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support across primary and secondary classes.
• Support communication, emotional regulation and engagement in learning.
• Follow EHCP targets and individual support plans.
• Assist with personal care when required.
• Work with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals.
• Help maintain a calm, structured learning environment.
• Encourage independence, confidence and social development.

Are you a patient, caring and committed SEN Teaching Assistant looking to start a new role as soon as possible where you can genuinely make a difference?

We are working with a well-resourced and highly supportive SEN school in Chelsmford that caters for both primary and secondary-aged pupils. They are looking to appoint a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their specialist provision as soon as possible.

The Role

• Providing 1:1 and small group support across primary and secondary classes
• Supporting communication, emotional regulation and engagement in learning
• Following EHCP targets and individual support plans

• Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals
• Helping maintain a calm, structured and positive learning environment
• Encouraging independence, confidence and social development

The Ideal Candidate

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEN, ASD, ADHD or complex needs
• Calm, patient and resilient approach
• Comfortable working across both primary and secondary age groups
• Confident supporting non-verbal or limited communication pupils
• Willing to support personal care where needed
• Strong team player with a proactive attitude
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

Both experienced SEN Teaching Assistants and strong mainstream TAs looking to move into a specialist setting are encouraged to apply.
