Job summary

Locum Ready is seeking a Locum Healthcare Assistant to support a GP practice in Chelmsford. The role involves assisting the clinical team with routine procedures, patient assessments and day-to-day treatment room activities within a well-organised primary care setting.

You will help manage patient flow, support core clinical duties and contribute to high-quality care delivery, with strong support and clear guidance to ensure smooth sessions.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Healthcare Assistant in primary care or NHS settings.
• Phlebotomy experience is desirable.
• Comfortable carrying out clinical observations and routine measurements.
• Strong communication and patient interaction skills.
• Basic IT competence for clinical system documentation.

Responsibilities

• Perform observations: BP, pulse, temp, oxygen saturation.
• Support treatment room procedures and routine patient assessments.
• Phlebotomy and sample handling if trained.
• Complete ECGs and assist with patient assessments.
• Provide lifestyle advice and health promotion support.
• Update patient records accurately in the clinical system.
• Assist clinicians with routine tasks as required.
