Job summary

Locum Ready is seeking a Locum Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to support a GP practice in Oxford. The role covers clinical observations, treatment room support and day-to-day activity to help the clinical team run smoothly.

You could join as ad‑hoc or regular weekly sessions with morning or afternoon slots, and DBS clearance is required. Phlebotomy and ECG duties may be involved if trained, with a focus on high‑quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Prior HCA experience in primary care or the NHS.
• Phlebotomy experience desirable.
• Comfortable carrying out clinical observations.
• Good communication and patient interaction skills.
• Basic IT competence for clinical system documentation.
• Enhanced DBS clearance.

Responsibilities

• Performing observations including BP, pulse, temperature and oxygen saturation.
• Supporting with treatment room procedures.
• Phlebotomy and sample handling (if trained).
• Completing ECGs and assisting with routine patient assessments.
• Providing lifestyle advice and supporting health promotion.
• Updating patient records accurately in the clinical system.
• Assisting clinicians with general tasks as required.
