Job summary

Locum Ready is seeking a proactive Healthcare Assistant to work for a GP practice in St Albans. The role focuses on supporting the clinical team with routine procedures, patient assessments and day-to-day treatment room activity.

You will operate within an organised primary care environment, help manage patient flow, assist with core clinical duties and contribute to high-quality care delivery. This session-based role suits long-term block bookings.

Qualifications

• Prior HCA experience in primary care or the NHS.
• Enhanced DBS
• Phlebotomy experience desirable.
• Comfortable carrying out clinical observations.
• Good communication and patient interaction skills.
• Basic IT competence for clinical system documentation.

Responsibilities

• Performing observations including BP, pulse, temperature and oxygen saturation
• Supporting with treatment room procedures
• Phlebotomy and sample handling (if trained)
• Completing ECGs and assisting with routine patient assessments
• Providing lifestyle advice and supporting health promotion
• Updating patient records accurately in the clinical system
• Assisting clinicians with general tasks as required
