The Role

We are looking for a proactive and detail‑oriented Food Preparation Department Supervisor to join our growing team in Derby. This hands‑on role is ideal for someone with experience in food production or preparation—especially in a leadership or supervisory role—who’s passionate about quality and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Preparation Room Manager with daily operations, including scheduling, staffing, and workflow management
  • Maintain high standards of food quality, safety, and hygiene across all preparation activities
  • Monitor team performance and identify areas for improvement
  • Ensure strict compliance with food safety protocols and industry accreditations (e.g., BRC, SALSA)
  • Oversee the cleaning, maintenance, and readiness of preparation machinery and equipment
  • Ensure customer orders are completed accurately, efficiently, and to the highest standard

The business operates over a 6‑day week Mon – Sat. The candidate’s hours will primarily be Mon – Friday 9am – 5pm. However, from time to time you may be required to work a shift pattern Mondays and after Bank Holidays 2.30am – 10.30am.

What We’re Looking For
  • Previous experience in a food preparation or production environment (supervisory experience preferred)
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Solid understanding of food safety standards and hygiene procedures
  • Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast‑paced environment
  • Physically fit and comfortable working on your feet for extended periods and lifting heavy items when required
