Job summary

Avara Foods Ltd is seeking a Poultry Worker to join our Hereford Poultry site. You will support bird welfare, handle eggs, and contribute to daily farm tasks. Weekend shifts are required, with overtime opportunities and a secure contract.

Starting pay is £12.71 per hour with weekly pay, and we provide training from day one. Free on-site parking and a supportive, progressive work environment are offered to employees.

Qualifications

• Motivated, flexible, and with a good work ethic.
• Team player with excellent communication.
• Has had Manual handling training.
• Experience in agriculture or similar role.
• Poultry welfare certificate or NVQ Level 2 desirable; training available.

Responsibilities

• Work in poultry houses: walking sheds, laying shavings, handling chickens.
• Collect, screen and pack eggs onto trays and complete paperwork.
• Look after bird welfare, including feeding.
• General farm duties including ground maintenance and equipment use.

Saturday and Sunday 07:30-16:00

Purpose of the role

As a Poultry Worker, you will be responsible for the bird welfare of the flock. This is an ideal opportunity to advance a career within our Agriculture operations at our Hereford breeder laying site.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Working in poultry houses, i.e. walking the sheds, laying shavings, handling chickens
• Collecting, screening and packing eggs onto trays, including completion of paperwork
• Looking after bird welfare including feeding
• General farm duties such as ground maintenance including use of equipment

What we are looking for:

• You will be motivated, flexible and have a good work ethic
• You can work well in a team environment and have excellent communication skills
• You will have had Manual handling training
• You will have previous experience of working in an agriculture environment or similar position
• You will have a Poultry welfare certificate / NVQ Level 2 in livestock production is desirable, but full training will be given
