Job summary

Avara Foods Limited in Hereford is seeking a Poultry Worker to join our team at the Woolhope site. The role focuses on bird welfare, egg collection and packing, and general farm duties, with weekend shifts Saturday and Sunday 07:30-16:00. We offer a minimum weekly pay of £440, training from day one, and guaranteed hours with overtime opportunities.

Excellent teamwork and communication are essential. A Poultry welfare certificate / NVQ Level 2 is desirable, but full training will be provided.

Qualifications

• Motivated, flexible and have a good work ethic.
• Team player with excellent communication skills.
• Have had Manual handling training.
• Experience in agriculture or similar role.
• Poultry welfare certificate / NVQ Level 2 desirable; full training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Working in poultry houses, i.e. walking the sheds, laying shavings, handling chickens.
• Collecting, screening and packing eggs onto trays, including completion of paperwork.
• Looking after bird welfare including feeding.
• General farm duties such as ground maintenance including use of equipment.

Purpose of the role

As a Poultry Worker, you will be responsible for the bird welfare of the flock. This is an ideal opportunity to advance a career within our Agriculture operations at our Hereford breeder laying site.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Working in poultry houses, i.e. walking the sheds, laying shavings, handling chickens
• Collecting, screening and packing eggs onto trays, including completion of paperwork
• Looking after bird welfare including feeding
• General farm duties such as ground maintenance including use of equipment

What we are looking for:

• You will be motivated, flexible and have a good work ethic
• You can work well in a team environment and have excellent communication skills
• You will have had Manual handling training
• You will have previous experience of working in an agriculture environment or similar position
• You will have a Poultry welfare certificate / NVQ Level 2 in livestock production is desirable, but full training will be given
