Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Tenterden is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) for a fixed-term 6-month contract. You will sort and deliver letters and parcels, walking long distances and driving a Royal Mail van daily. The role requires a full manual UK driving licence, reliability, and a customer-focused outlook.

Training and a uniform are provided, with shift patterns across 7 days. The position offers 37 hours per week, weekend work on a rotating basis, and paid overtime.

Location: Tenterden Delivery Office, TN30 6AA

Job type: Fixed Term contract 6 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available. Working hours: 37.00 hours per week - working 5days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 07:30-15:15 or 12:30-20.00

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You'll be required to work Sundays at Ashford Delivery Office between 11:30 and 19:30

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
