Job summary

Royal Mail in Tonbridge is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) for a fixed-term 6‑month contract. You will deliver letters and parcels across Tonbridge, working 31.5 hours per week on a rotating 5-in-7 schedule, with 14:00–20:00 shifts and overtime opportunities.

Training, a uniform, and a red van are provided. The role is outdoors, typically involves walking long distances and driving daily, with weekends included.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence is required.
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances, climb stairs/hills, and lift 10kg+ mailbags.

Job type: Fixed Term contract (6 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 31.5 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 14:00pm/20:00pm*

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
