Job summary

Royal Mail Group is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Dover to join a busy delivery operation at the Dover Delivery Office. The role involves sorting, delivering by van and on foot, and maintaining customer relations in all weather conditions.

You will work a 30-hour week on a rotating shift, including weekends, with comprehensive training, a uniform, and a red Royal Mail van provided. Physical fitness and a full UK driving licence are essential for success.

Job type: Fixed Term contract 6 Months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30:00hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 08:30/20:00*

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
