Job summary

Royal Mail in Sittingbourne is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) for a fixed-term 6-month contract. You will deliver letters and parcels, using a Royal Mail van and on foot in the local area, with a rotating schedule across 5 days in 7, including Sundays.

The role is physically demanding yet rewarding, with full training provided, a uniform, and opportunities to stay active within the community. A manual UK driving licence is required.

Job description

Location: Sittingbourne Delivery Office, ME10 4AA

Job type: Fixed Term contract (6 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 28:00 hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 14:00/20:00*

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You'll be required to work Sundays at Sittingbourne Delivery Office.

About You

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
