Job summary

Royal Mail is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) for Hayle. This fixed-term 9-month role pays £13.68 per hour (paid monthly) with paid overtime, working 30 hours per week across five days in seven, usually 08:30 to 16:30 in Hayle Delivery Office TR27 4AA.

You will sort letters, deliver by van and on foot, build relationships with customers, and work outdoors in all weathers on a rotating schedule that may include weekends.

Qualifications

• A full manual UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points) registered to your name and address.
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit to walk long distances, climb stairs/hills, and lift 10kg+ mailbags.

Working hours: 30:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 08:30/16:30*

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods
  
  

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
