Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Cardigan is looking for a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a fixed-term 9-month contract. You will sort letters and parcels at the delivery office, deliver by van and on foot in your local area, and work a rotating shift including weekends, about 30 hours per week (08:30–16:30).

A full manual UK driving licence is required, along with the ability to pass a driving assessment. You’ll be outdoors in all weathers, reliable and motivated, with benefits including paid overtime,

Qualifications

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.Working hours: 30:00hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 08:30/16:30*

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You may be required to work Sundays.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)


• Driving a Royal Mail van daily


• Working in all weather conditions


• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels


• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)


• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment


• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags


• Reliable and self-motivated


• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment


• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service


• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
