Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Battle to deliver letters and parcels on a rotating shift schedule. You will sort mail, drive a Royal Mail van, walk routes, and engage with customers while working outdoors in all weather. Training is provided, with a focus on reliability and safe, accurate delivery.

The role is a fixed term contract for 10 months, part-time 30 hours per week, with overtime and weekend work as required.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment

Location: Battle Delivery Office, TN33 0AA

Job type: Fixed Term contract for 10 Months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 09:00 - 15:00/13:00 - 19:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
