Overview

Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering, based in Central Oxford. The appointment is full-time, fixed-term to 21 November 2025, funded by the US Army.

Responsibilities
  • Join a research project investigating the seismic vulnerability of flood protection systems on layered soil deposits, with focus on partial drainage effects.
  • Contribute to the numerical modelling work, benefiting from novel element-level and centrifuge testing experimental results.
  • Set up and validate numerical simulations, generalize experimental observations, and provide insight on the response of selected case studies.
Qualifications
  • PhD/DPhil (or near completion) in numerical modelling for geotechnical earthquake engineering problems, preferably with a focus on liquefaction of sands.
