Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Wishaw is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a fixed-term contract for 9 months. You’ll deliver letters and parcels by van and on foot, with 30 hours per week across a 5-in-7 pattern, 15:00–21:00, and overtime opportunities.

We require a full manual UK driving licence (up to 6 penalty points) and the ability to pass a driving assessment. The role is outdoors, customer-facing, and physically active, with training provided.

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available. Working hours: 30:00 hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 15:00/21:00*

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
