Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking a delivery driver in Invergordon to operate on a rotating schedule across five days in six, with weekend work and possible assignments from another office during peak times. You will deliver letters and parcels by van and on foot while engaging with customers in the community.

The role demands physical activity, outdoor work, and the ability to work independently in varying weather. Training, a uniform, and a red Royal Mail van are provided.

Location: Invergordon Delivery Office, IV18 0DE

Job type: Fixed Term contract 8 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour * (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 25:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 6 across Monday - Saturday – 08:30am/13:30pm*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll may be required to work out of Tain Delivery Office some days during the busiest periods.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
