Job summary

Royal Mail in Glasgow is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a fixed-term contract for 9 months. The role is 30 hours per week across Monday to Sunday with weekend shifts, at £13.68 per hour plus paid overtime.

You'll work from Glasgow Baillieston Delivery Office and deliver letters and parcels in your local area, building relationships with customers. You must hold a full manual UK driving licence, be comfortable driving a Royal Mail van, and be physically fit for long walks, with

Location: Glasgow Baillieston Delivery Office, G32 8FA

Job type: Fixed Term contract 9 Months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available. Working hours: 30:00hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 09:30/15:30*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays as per the rota.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
