Job summary

Royal Mail in Wishaw is hiring a Postie to deliver letters and parcels on a 30-hour week schedule, with a 15:00–21:00 shift and rotating days. You will walk routes, drive a Royal Mail van, and engage with customers while upholding service standards.

Full training provided, plus uniform and support resources. The role involves outdoor work, independent delivery, and meeting deadlines in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

Job type: Fixed Term contract (9 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 15:00/21:00*

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
