Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Wolverhampton. The role involves sorting parcels, delivering by van and on foot in the local area, building customer relationships, and working outdoors. You will join a rotating shift, with Sundays required at the North West Midlands Delivery Office.

Hours are 30 per week across five days in seven with early mornings to early afternoons. A full manual UK driving licence is required, and training is provided.

Qualifications

• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances, climb stairs/hills, lift/carry 10kg+ mailbags

Job type: Fixed Term contract (12 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 08:00AM/15:30PM*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated

• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
