Royal Mail in Wednesbury is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) for a 9-month fixed-term contract. You will sort mail, deliver by van and on foot, and build relationships with customers on your route.

The role is outdoors, physically demanding and includes weekend shifts. Training is provided, a uniform and a red Royal Mail van are supplied, with overtime opportunities and a competitive pension.

Qualifications

• Own a full manual UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points) registered to current name and address.
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs/hills, and lifting 10kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable and self-motivated with strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment.
• Customer-focused with pride in delivering great service and ability to work outdoors independently.

Location: Wednesbury Delivery Office, WS10 7DG

Job type: Fixed Term contract (9 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 08:00-16:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You
