Job summary

Royal Mail is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Birmingham. This fixed-term 6-month contract offers a physically active role delivering letters and parcels, with a rotating shift schedule including Sundays and weekends.

You'll drive a Royal Mail van, walk long distances, and work outdoors in all weather. Training provided; uniform and a cargo-brimmed van are supplied.

Qualifications

• A full manual UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address).
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs/hills, and lifting/carrying 10kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable and self-motivated.
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment.
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service.
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently.

Job type: Fixed Term contract 6 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 08:00hours per week – working 1 Sunday – 08:00/16:40*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays at Birmingham Central Delivery Office.

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:
