Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Colchester is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a fixed-term contract to deliver letters and parcels across Colchester, with a 30-hour week and weekend shifts.

You’ll wear the iconic red uniform, drive a Royal Mail van, and walk routes in all weathers, building relationships with customers and staying active.

Full training provided; role is outdoors, with overtime and a rota-based schedule.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points).
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances, climb stairs/hills, lift/carry 10 kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable and self-motivated.
• Strong organisational skills and resilience in a busy environment.

• Comfortable working outdoors and independently.

Location: Colchester Delivery Office, CO1 2GB

Job type: Fixed Termcontract (9 Months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 30:00hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday

Monday - Saturday -13:45 -19:45

Sunday -12:00 - 18:004 out of every 6 Sundays on a rota basis.

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:
