Job summary

Royal Mail in Wimborne is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to join our team. You will deliver letters and parcels in Wimborne, working 33.30 hours per week on a rotating shift, including weekends.

A full manual UK driving licence is required and you must be comfortable driving a Royal Mail van and working outdoors in all weather. You’ll receive full training and a uniform, with a typical 07:00–14:00 or 12:00–19:00 shift pattern and some Sundays at the Winton Delivery Office.

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 33.30 hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 07:00 - 14:00/12:00 - 19:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays at Winton Delivery Office. (10:00 - 16:00)

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
