Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Swansea. You will sort mail at the delivery office and deliver by van and on foot in the local area, building relationships with customers while working outdoors in all weather.

This fixed-term role runs 37 hours per week on a rotating schedule, including weekends. You must have a full manual UK driving licence, be able to pass a driving assessment, and be physically fit to carry mailbags and walk long distances.

Job type: Fixed Term contract 6 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 37hours per week – working 5 days across Monday - Saturday – 07:00/15:30*

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
