Job summary

Royal Mail is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Llanelli to join the team at the Llanelli Delivery Office. You will work 30 hours per week across a Monday–Sunday rotating schedule, with some weekend work and peak-period Sundays as needed.

In this fixed-term 6-month role, you will sort mail, deliver by van and on foot, and engage with customers while working outdoors in all weather conditions. Full training is provided and a Royal Mail van is supplied.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence with up to 6 penalty points.
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass driving assessment.
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances and lift 10kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable and self-motivated.
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment.

Location: Llanelli Delivery Office, SA15 2SN

Job type: Fixed Term contract, 6 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available. Working hours: 30:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 08:00/14:30*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

Due to operational demand, you may be required to work occasional Sundays throughout peak periods.

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated

• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
