Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Pontardawe. The role involves delivering letters and parcels, walking long distances, and working outdoors on a 37-hour week across Monday to Saturday. The position is a fixed-term contract for 6 months, with overtime opportunities and full training.

You’ll need a full manual UK driving licence (6 points max) and a willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily. You’ll be active, community-connected, and customer-focused.

Job type: Fixed Term contract 6 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour * (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 37 hours per week - working 5 days across Monday - Saturday - 07:00/15:30*

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About You

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
