Royal Mail is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Neath for a fixed-term six-month contract. You will deliver letters and parcels, sort mail, and build relationships with customers on a 30-hour weekly rota across 6 days.

The role requires working outdoors in all weather, with training provided and a Royal Mail van to drive. The position involves walking long distances, driving the Royal Mail van daily, and possibly working Sundays at Swansea Mail Centre.

Qualifications

• Must hold a full UK manual driving licence.
• Willingness to pass a driving assessment for Royal Mail van delivery.
• Physically fit to walk long distances and lift 10kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable, self-motivated and able to work independently in a busy environment.

Location: Neath Delivery Office, SA11 1LT

Job type: Fixed Term contract for six months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 30:00hours per week - working 6 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 09:00/15:00*

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You'll be required to work Sundays on an ad hoc basis at Swansea Mail Centre.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
