Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Swansea is recruiting a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a 6-month fixed-term contract. The role involves delivering letters and parcels on a 37-hour week, across Monday to Saturday, with a rotating shift pattern.

You must hold a full manual UK driving licence, be physically fit, and willing to work outdoors in all weather. Overtime is paid and you’ll drive a Royal Mail van as part of a friendly, community-facing team.

Job type: Fixed Termcontract 6 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 37hours per week - working 5days across Monday - Saturday - 07:00/15:30*

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
