Royal Mail is hiring a Postie to join the Woking Delivery Office, GU22 7ZZ. The role is a fixed-term contract for 9 months, with 37 hours per week on a rotating shift including weekends.

You will sort letters and parcels, deliver by van and on foot in the local area, and build good relationships with customers while working outdoors in all weather. Full training and a uniform are provided.

Job description

Location: Woking Delivery Office, GU22 7ZZ

Job type: Fixed Term contract 9 months.

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 37 hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday. Shifts will be between 07:00am until 15.00pm. However, during peak season, hours can change accordibly. This will be discussed further in the interview. Sunday working will be 1 in 4.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
